Dancan grew up in a very abusive home. His mother was unable to withstand the abuse and she took her two young girls and ran away. She left Dancan behind to fend for himself.
He suffered at the hands of his father. One day when his father came home drunk, Dancan took one hundred shillings from his father’s coat and followed the other children to Overcomers.
Dancan gave the money away and said he wanted to learn. Overcomers took the case from there and followed up. When his father realized what Dancan had done, he relocated from the slums leaving the boy behind at Overcomers.
